The San Diego Ballet has been an acclaimed ballet company and treasured San Diego institution for
over 30 years. In addition to a wide repertoire of classical and contemporary ballet the San Diego Ballet
has many educational programs that serve the local communities. Our programs encompass everything
from in-school performances and Q&As with professional dancers to 10-week residencies and
opportunities to attend full length performances. San Diego Ballet also has educational opportunities to fit
your school and classroom preferences.

Offerings

Meet a Dancer One San Diego Ballet company dancer teaching artist goes to one school classroom for a 30-minute ballet demonstration and Q&A. $60 each classroom

Interactive In-School Assembly with Professional Performance San Diego Ballet travels to schools to provide programming on-site during the school day. The 1-hour assembly includes half interactive ballet/dance workshop with the students and ends with a quality professional level ballet performance. $650 each assembly

In-School Residency During School Hours or After School San Diego Ballet teaching artists provides 7 months of weekly classes during the school year that culminates with a presentation of quality professional level ballet including a student showcase. $5,000 each residency

Field Trip to See Professional Ballet Show San Diego Ballet offers student matinee shows for all productions. Field trips to see shows give students the opportunity to have a theater experience and for some this is usually their first exposure. All field trips include a Q&A session with the Director and the Company Dancers. $6 per student, $250 per bus / 2 classrooms at 30 each + 1 bus = $610

Film Project in Collaboration with KPBS San Diego Ballet partners with local film-maker to create a dance film, shot on location, in five different boroughs in San Diego County. Each location incorporates the local cultural assets and presents dance directly in the community. $1,750 partially underwrites a specific borough

10 Class Residency for Community Organizations and Schools San Diego Ballet will send a talented teaching artist to your site to hold 10 Ballet focused dance classes. Residency can be adjusted to fit the ages and needs of your community. Residency concludes with demonstration for the community of skills learned during classes.

10 Class Residency with Arts & Literature Integration San Diego Ballet will send a teaching artist to your organization to provide 10 ballet based classes with a focus on arts literature integration. The teaching artist will guide the class in reading and story time and as a group the class will interpret the book through dance and choreography.

10 Class Residency for Adults or Teens A comprehensive, age appropriate beginner/ intermediate class series tailored to fit the skill level of adult and teenage students. Each class is 1 hour and covers basic barre and center exercises with an emphasis on flexibility, coordination and artistry in a welcoming and positive atmosphere.

Zoe Marinello-Kohn

A professional ballet dancer, teacher, choreographer, actor and artist. Zoe received her ballet training at the San Francisco Ballet School and the Academy of Ballet in San Francisco. Since then, Zoe has danced professionally with the San Diego Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota and the Osage Ballet.
Zoe joined the San Diego Ballet in 2011 and has performed in Principal roles including Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in the Nutcracker, Lady Capulet in Romeo et Juliet, Kaa the Snake in the Jungle Book, the Swan in the Carnival of the Animals and the Princess in The Firebird. Zoe has also performed in the Salute to Vienna at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and in the West Coast premier of Sir Robert Cohan’s Stabat Mater. During her time with the Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota, Zoe was featured in the principal roles of Lucy in Narnia: The Ballet and Princess Clara in the Nutcracker. Zoe is also an original cast member of Wazhazhe: an Osage Ballet and Principal Dancer with the Osage Ballet. Since 2012, she has toured extensively with the company, including to the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian, the Sesquicentennial Celebration in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and at the Festival of Families in honor of Pope Francis at his visit to the United States in 2015.
As a seasoned actor she was a company member of the American Immersion Theater, Murder
Mystery Co. for five years. Other acting credits include live, immersive activations of House of the Dragon, Carnival Row and NBC’s The Voice. Zoe has choreographed on the San Diego Ballet as well as for many other companies and organizations. Her work has been produced both in the US and internationally.
Zoe currently serves as the Education and Outreach Programs Manager of the San Diego Ballet
where she is driven to bring free or affordable, quality dance education to all members of the community.
She is also the Co Director of the Pre-Professional Summer Intensive and is invested in her work to prepare the next generation of professional ballet dancers for their careers. She is energized to pass on her more than 15 years of professional experience to her students and works to provide opportunities to young dancers to fulfill their potential.
