Ian Schwaner, a native of Atlanta, began his ballet training at age 17 under Jennifer Gordon of the Northeast Atlanta Ballet. He then studied on scholarship at University of North Carolina School of the Arts and recieved his BFA this past May. Ian has studied at American Ballet Theatre and Joffrey Ballet under full scholarship, and has spent last season dancing as an apprentice with Oregon Ballet Theatre. His performance credits include the principal male of Balanchine’s Allegro Brilliante, Snow King & Cavalier of Ethan Steifel’s The Nutcracker, Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, and the principal male of Susan Jaffe’s world premiere Metallurgy. Ian is thrilled to be joining San Diego Ballet.
